I am happy to recommend two new resources which I am certain will be of interest to our readers. First, A History of ANCIENT ISRAEL From Abraham to Exile, co-authored by Michael A. Grisanti and Todd Bolen.

In a world of biblical scholarship where so many have a low view of inspiration of Scripture, I appreciate the reverent, careful approach to the Word that is characteristic of this new resource (747 pages). After an informative introduction (45 pages), the book covers the Old Testament period by period chronologically, beginning with the Patriarchal Period through Israel’s Return from Exile (chapters 2-17). I have numerous good resources on the History of Israel; this resource is a welcome (and in many ways, unique) addition.
Dr. Grisanti wrote chapters 1 (introduction) through 6 (from Abraham to King Saul), and 16-17 (Exile & Post-Exile). Dr. Bolen authored chapters7-15, from the rise of David to the fall of Jerusalem.
From the inside cover:
A History of Ancient Israel traces God’s covenant people from Abraham through the exodus, conquest, monarchy, exile, and return. Grisanti and Bolen bring the biblical record into conversation with historical research, archaeological discoveries, and the geography of the land, showing how the events of the Old Testament fit within the context of the ancient Near Eastern world. Drawing together a vast body of evidence, this up-to-date survey explains what happened, why it matters, and how key questions and long-standing debates should be understood.
Thoughtful, thorough, and accessible, A History of Ancient Israel gives students, pastors, and serious readers a reliable guide to Israel’s history, helping them gain a clearer grasp of the world, storyline, and message of the Old Testament for teaching, study, and deeper biblical understanding.

Additionally, MINOR PROPHETS is the latest addition to the PHOTO COMPANION OF THE BIBLE. For more info, and to order, go to https://www.bibleplaces.com/

I have used and recommended Dr. Bolen’s materials since 2003.
This new resource
is a unique digital resource that illustrates the biblical text with modern and historic photographs of ancient sites, museum artifacts, and cultural scenes. This PowerPoint-based collection goes verse by verse through all twelve books of the Minor Prophets, providing beautiful photographs, descriptive text, and explanatory notes to enhance Bible study and teaching. The 67 chapters of the Minor Prophets are illustrated by more than 9,000 slides.
The Minor Prophets volume was created from the photo collections of BiblePlaces.com by Chris McKinny, Kris Udd, Steven Anderson, Kai Akagi, and Todd Bolen. Dr. McKinny is associate professor of archaeology in the Lanier Center for Archaeology at Lipscomb University. Dr. Udd is a pastor and has a Ph.D. in Old Testament Archaeology from Andrews University. Dr. Anderson is a career Bible scholar and teacher who earned his Ph.D. from Dallas Theological Seminary.
Dr. Akagi holds a Ph.D. in New Testament from the University of St Andrews and is associate professor at Rikkyo University.
Dr. Bolen is the founder of BiblePlaces.com and professor at The Master’s University, having taught for many years at their campus in Israel.
I highly recommend these resources, to teachers and students alike.
